“Dumbbell Fran”

21-15-9
Thrusters (25# db’s)
Pullups

my time – 4:16

*notes – found the hotel gym yesterday and I couldn’ve have been more excited.  Not only did it have a pullup bar (one of those split/slanted ones) but it had dumbbells up to 50#!!!!!!  I decided to do fran with dumbbells this morning.  I wasn’t sure what weight to tackle and was still feeling the “hand grenade” I had on bourbon street last night so I went with 25#.  All thrusters were unbroken, pullups were the weak link.  I really need to spend some time working on these. I also have to force myself to not get off the bar, I came down twice on the last set of 9 which is unacceptable.;

Next time I think I’ll go with 35# dumbbells.  Is there any guidance out there on how to translate barbell weights to dumbbells? I know it’s not a 1-for-1 match.

    I don’t think there is a definitive answer on translation, but 95 is generally translated to 35lb DB.

    I may do a month of nothing but DB work after the games.

    As for getting off the bar, very common. If the break is less than 2 seconds, it’s not a big deal. I have seen Nicole among others do this. I think I get off the bar at least once.
